Hi guys! These are the few pictures I took on my trip to Austin a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately I didn't get as many as I planned on, but at least I managed to get shots of one of my outfits! Speaking of my outfit, I am completely in love with these shorts from Tunnel Vision. They are the creation of two bloggers I love and I highly recommend checking out their brand Bad Vibes. I love everything I've purchased from them so far and can't wait to get some more! I had so much fun wandering around downtown Austin and vintage shopping with Andrea. I ended taking home a super destroyed George Thoroughgood t and an oh so perfect white button up with me from this great vintage store called Frock On. On top of that, I also got my septum pierced! I've wanted to get it done for months now so I finally worked up the courage and I love it (pictures of it in my next post!). I had a really great experience at a shop called Diablo Rojo, so if you're in the Austin area I highly recommend them! If you'd like to see more of our trip head over to Andrea's blog, Deer and the Wolf, and check out her video post!

As I've been sitting here writing this blog post and watching some silly alien invasion movie on syfy its occurred to me that this might be the first time that I've really relaxed in the past two weeks. No one wants anything from me right now (except the dogs, but they always want something ha), I'm not rushing to leave for work or school, and I don't have any due date pressing upon me. I've been living a whirlwind life since I got home from Austin almost 4 weeks ago. First I went to New Orleans to work at a gift show with my dad, then I got to go back to Austin to visit Kyle with Andrea, then last week I started my new job at Free People (eeeekkk!!) and of course school. Life has been crazy, but other than being a little stressful its been crazy good. So here's to a relaxing Sunday spend doing nothing and going nowhere!

Hi guys! I know I've been MIA for awhile now, but I've had some pretty big changes since my last post and hadn't gotten around to blogging about them till now. I began the summer with a very unexpected, but very exciting move to Austin, TX after my fiance was offered an incredible job opportunity. I lived there for the summer and moved back to Houston this past weekend to begin my school semester so we're going to be doing a lot of back and forth for the next year, but I really can't wait to get back to Austin and explore my new city! This outfit was actually from my last week in Houston before the move, but I finally was able to take some today so there will be a new post from me soon. Anyways I'm glad to be back and I can't wait to show y'all some of the great new pieces I've gotten recently!

Its been awhile since I've had some outfit pictures to post on here so I had Andrea take a few real quick yesterday before I had to run off to meet my fiance. Even in this little clothes I was melting after 5 minutes outside.. Its officially summertime! I originally threw this together on fathers day last weekend to go out to lunch/dinner and decided to re-wear it so I could finally get some pictures for my neglected blog. Its not that I haven't been dressing blog worthy, I just haven't managed to get any pictures lately.. still need to get that remote and I haven't seen Andrea as often in the last couple weeks. Time to start training Kyle to take my pictures. Anyways, clearly the halter top obsession is still going strong. I think I've worn this top more days than not this week.. oops. I have some super exciting news to share with you guys really soon! It's pretty much official already I just don't want to jinx anything haha

I'm finally all moved in with my fiance yayy! ..still not 100% unpacked though. This was the first time I'd really dressed up since moving and it felt goood. It was another one of those days where I was running late to meet Andrea and couldn't decide what to wear.. Originally I had this top on with a faux leather moto skirt which looked badass, but decided it was too much for shopping. Speaking of this top I am currently in the throws of a MAJOR halter top obsession (all caps means business). This is one of maybe five that I've acquired in the past few weeks and I'm not done yet. They're the perfect summer top to throw on with shorts and voila you're done! Plus, I don't have to wear a bra with them making it a double win. Honestly, the more comfortable I've gotten going sans bra in public, the better life has gotten.

This event happened a couple months ago, but it seems like instameet ups are becoming a somewhat regular part of my life and I couldn't be happier! This one was put together by Kendall Hanna, an awesome lady I actually met a while ago through working at Urban Outfitters. She is fairly new to Houston and hosted this as an opportunity to get to know some fellow creatives here (feels pretty cool to be referred to as a "creative" as I'd never really thought of myself that way before). This one was a little different from the previous ones I've been to since we met at a cool restaurant in the Heights area (Downhouse) and socialized over drinks and snacks. It's always really nice to meet more people in the Houston area. Especially since it's not always easy meeting like minded souls in such a spread out and industrial city. Plus, Downhouse has some really good fries.

This beauty right here is my incredibly rad friend Andrea from the blog Deer and the Wolf. I would like to start doing posts featuring some of the cool people in my life that inspire me in so many different ways. I'm sure y'all have noticed that I mention her in a lot of my posts so she was the first person I thought of to feature! I met Andrea through working at Urban Outfitters and I instantly felt connected with her. We always talked at work, but once I left Urban last fall we finally started hanging out outside of work a lot more and pretty much talk constantly now. I'm so lucky to have her as a part of my life, she's constantly inspiring me with her generally urban, fun, and more simple style. Plus, how could you not love her hair?! We push each other to get things done and keep on blogging and I love going to events together because she balances me out and keeps me from getting too nervous. Hopefully y'all like these posts because I have another one coming soon!

I've been feeling really exhausted and just uninspired lately so I had to take a little break from blogging due to the end of the semester and many other stressful things, but I'm happy to be back with an outfit that made me feel the most "me" that I've felt in a long time! I've had this skirt for a couple of years now, but never managed to wear it until last week when I was running out of time to meet up with Andrea and our friend Laura on one those days where nothing felt right. I saw this guy in the back of my closet and threw it on with the first things I thought of and absolutely loved it. I came to love it even more in the next couple of days as I tried it on with more and more stuff that it went perfectly with. Funny how that works out when I'd even thought of getting rid of it a few times! I'm getting ready to move out of my parents house and in with my fiance this weekend so as I uncover more stuff I've been having a lot of fun "shopping" my closet, I'm hoping I'll continue to have more clothing epiphanies in these next few days! ha

Threw this on to run to Whole Foods in search of shampoo bars the other day. Super easy and comfy. Unfortunately, the search for shampoo bars is not so easy. They only had one brand and I think I want a little more variety. I'm going to order some samples from an all natural (paraben and sulfate free!) company called Chagrin Valley soon and I'll let y'all know how that goes! I finally tried out the self timer on my new camera to take these (getting a remote soon!) and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be to take pictures of myself.. not ready to flaunt it though so I stuck to the front porch as there was way too many neighbors out in the street :p

wooooo! first post with my new camera! (canon rebel t3) I still have a lot of learning to do, but it was fun to finally use it and get to play with the settings. No auto for me! This is also my first time wearing my bangs down in what feels like forever! Pretty much have little side bangs finally!! Truth be told, I'm in no way into polka music nor do I have any clue how to actually "do the polka," but I liked the sound of it as a title soo.. This is my new favorite dress and it's only $30 at Urban right now! (in store) I might have to add its twin in black to my wardrobe as well if it goes on sale.. I've been craving slip dresses for the warmer weather and have yet to thrift any good ones so I'll most likely be wearing it constantly from now on. Hopefully I can think of some other ways to wear it since currently I can't imagine anything better than this pairing. I guess it'll be a challenge!

I wore this to the second instameet I went to a couple of months ago. This one was set up by Cary Fagan (check out his blog here) and we trekked through a cool wooded area in Sugarland to get some pictures by a tree house built back in there. I can definitely say I'm glad I wore boots that day although I wish they'd had better traction because I slipped and slided my way through the trees clutching Andrea's arm for dear life. Once again it was a fun time and on our way out Andrea took some quick photos of me with my point and shoot for an outfit post. Unfortunately it would seem that my skin was extra pale that day because I was super washed out and I ended up just using a photo off my phone ha. Thankfully that shouldn't be a problem anymore on my super awesome new camera :D

I've been fighting the urge to rewear this outfit daily since I put it together.. This slip dress from Free People is just too great. Perfect for layering now and it will make the perfect easy maxi to throw on come summer. The rest of the outfit consists of many other favorites as well (I probably wear this flannel a minimum of 2x a week..) and it went especially well with my new best friend: namely, this floral headband. I decided to grow my bangs out a few weeks ago because as much as I love em, the upkeep is a pain. However, this in between phase is becoming seriously painful as well, but they're almost side bangs length! woooo! I spent this day with my wonderful friend/blog photographer Andrea running errands and not doing too much else. I love that we can just get together and do whatever, but always have fun. I'm looking forward to seeing her this Friday to play with my new dslr. I got it last week, but haven't had much time to get to know it.. I seriously can't wait to learn how to use it! I've been wanting a new hobby and increasing my photography skills is obviously perfect as it goes hand in hand with furthering my blog! Until next time!

Hello! I'm finally back to blogging with a recipe for my new favorite breakfast, desert, snack, whatever! This past week was kind of a downer so I didn't really feel like doing much of anything, but I'm trying to get back to normal and lift my spirits and I even have an outfit post ready to go in the next couple of days. Anyways, this stuff is absolutely amazing and I've encountered a lot of different recipes online recently, but this turned out the best for me. It satisfies my sweet tooth without making me feel guilty for eating it so often. I wish I had better pictures so I could better show y'all how delicious it is.
What you need:
1/2 cup coconut milk (I use vanilla)
2 tbsp chia seeds
1/8 tsp vanilla extract
about 1 tbsp honey (I estimated)
Combine the first four ingredients in a jar or bowl and stir. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, stirring again after 30 minutes to prevent clumping. When you are ready to eat it add the honey and any toppings you desire! I love adding chopped strawberries or craisins to mine, nuts would be great too if I wasn't allergic to them!
I hope y'all love this as much as I do if you try it! Chia seeds took a little getting used to when I first tried them, but now I put them in everything. I love adding them to my oatmeal and I also like adding them to coconut water for a quick pick me up.
I've been working on this post for on and off for a few days now and I'm proud to say I'm finally learning how to edit photos on my computer instead of just using my ipad. This outfit is from sometime in December that I never got around to posting. I was hanging out in city centre with Andrea and we got some quick pictures before getting some much needed hot chocolate to warm us up afterwards. My feet were pretty much numb. I really love these pants and how va va voom they make me feel! The last picture was definitely an outtake, but I thought it was funny so I threw it in. I'm getting better, but there's definitely been more than a few pictures that turned out like this in my blog career thus far.

This is probably my favorite outfit post so far. Stripes and overalls are pretty much always a sure thing. I'm still getting used to getting my picture taken, but there was more ease to it this time. The poses came naturally and we were able to get good photos much more quickly! This is probably just about my favorite shirt that I own. I've worn it countless ways so far, it just goes with everything! I can only hope that it holds up to the constant wear and doesn't fall apart eventually as so many other favorite clothing items have. Also, this is just the best basic purse. It holds so much and was perfect for my trip up north this past December. I had my eye on a Baggu tote for quite some time, but when one of my favorite bloggers Laura of Ascot Friday collaborated with the equally awesome brand Cleobella to create this basic with a twist tote I knew that it was the one. I just love the tassels! There are actually a lot of favorites in this outfit- this is the first beanie I've found that actually looks good on me, the birks which are just the right combo of tacky goodness, and this perfect grandpa sweater I got from Urban years ago and have worn to bits.
